Der Begriff des MVP steht für ein minimal funktionsfähiges Produkt, anhand dessen Marktakzeptanz getestet und Weiterentwicklungsansätze festgelegt werden. Es entstammt dem Lean-Startup-Gedanken und wurde im Jahre 2001 von dem Unternehmer Frank Robinson geprägt und von Steve Blank und Eric Ries popularisiert.
